Web Development Program

About the Program

Internet Applications and Web Development (formerly Web Communications Development) is an Ontario Advance Diploma program in web development with courses in core web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, ASP.NET) plus design software (Photoshop, Video), writing, marketing, communications, and business. Starting in the fall of 2013, the 6 semester program will no longer be offered as a fast track program, instead it will be delivered in the traditional 3 year format. Skills Ontario 2013

The Web program competed for the third time in the Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo on May 7, 2013. We sent two second year students, Shawn Crusvar (right) and Noel Issa (left). There were 14 students competing in both secondary and post secondary competitions. Shawn won silver and Noel won Bronze. This continues a tradition of bringing home medals every year. Way to go guys!

Local Skills 2013

On Saturday, February 23 we held our 3rd annual web development skills competition. A record 5 students came out to compete. After 3 hard hours of coding our winners emerged. First place went to Shawn Crusvar, second place to Noel Issa, and third place to Mohamed Hamoud. Shawn and Noel will go on to compete at the Ontario Skills competition on May 7 in Waterloo. Congratulations to everyone who competed!

Mobile Device Lab

The web Development program is collecting mobile devices as part of a Mobile Device Lab. These devices can be used to test websites and mobile apps on various platforms and models. Our current collection is listed here. If you have something to donate please contact Phil Aylesworth 519-972-2727 ext 4113. If we can't use it we will either return it or recycle it, your choice.

Ben Hohner-da Silva competed at Skills Canada in the Web Site Development competition May 13-16, 2012. Twelve competitors in secondary and post-secondary designed and developed a website for a concert hall. A tight race between Ben and the Quebec competitor resulted in a silver medal for Ben. Great job Ben, we are so proud!

The Web Communications Development program competed for the second time in the Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo on May 1, 2012. We sent two second year students, Ben Hohner-da Silva and Jeff Szusz, who both performed very well. There were 20 students competing in both secondary and post secondary competitions. Ben won gold. For the second year in a row St. Clair brought home the gold for the Web program! Great job guys!

Ben will go to Edmonton to compete in the Skills Canada National Competition, May 13-16, 2012.

Local Skills Competition 2012

Local Skills 2012 Winners

A local skills competition was held at the college on Saturday, January 21 to select the students that will go to Waterloo in May to compete in the Skills Ontario Competition. The competitors had 3 hours to build a website that could be updated by a site administrator and allow the public to leave comments on. None of the competitors finished the task but all made good progress.

Poster Contest 2011

Brooke Windibank receives prise for poster contest.The Web Communications Development program held a poster competition to develop a poster to promote the program. Brooke Windibank won the contest with her poster. In the photo Phil Aylesworth (Faculty) is presenting Brooke with a 2TB external hard drive for first place. Skills Ontario 2011 winners

The Web Communications Development program competed for the first time in the Ontario Skills competition in Waterloo in May 2011. We sent two second year students who both performed exceptionally well. Will Comartin won gold and Peter Murawski won bronze. Great job guys!

Will Comartin went on to compete at Skills Canada 2011 in Quebec City and won bronze! Congratulations Will!
